Throwback | Paris, France

26 November 2013

I'm attempting to organize my life.
And when I say life, I mean the 'Travel' page of my blog.
Most of the countries I have visited were pre-Bristol in my Pocket. I thought long and hard about how I should include some of those travels, and it dawned on me: Throwbacks.
So grab a cup of tea and enjoy the lovely pictures of me in my awkward years.

July 2011. Age: 20.

I'm probably going to be the only person to ever say it, but I'm actually not a fan of Paris. I had built Paris up in my head to be this wonderful place when in reality I felt extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome

I desperately want to change my perception of Paris. I'm hoping that one day I'll go back and have a wonderful time. Paris is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever been to, but my overall experience was, dare I say, terrible.

That's the problem with traveling. There is always a possibility a destination may not live up to your expectation.

Have you ever been disappointed by a destination? Let me know!

  1. Hi Sara, I thought Paris was overrated. I think it thrives on its romantic reputation, but as a Londoner, it doesn't compare to my home city, especially when it comes to food.

  2. I thought the same about Paris! The city itself is still beautiful but I found the people were not very welcoming or friendly at all. I'm glad I wasn't the only person to think that xx

  3. I have heard a lot of people say this about Paris. I was there in 2007 for a day, so can't really make up my mind yet. Heading back in Jan to check it out properly!

  4. My friend did a euro-trip and Paris was her least favourite place, so when I went to visit after her, I didn't have high expectations. Maybe because of this I had an amazingly perfect time and Paris blew me away. It's funny how different people can have different experiences, and sometimes, you just don't get along with a destination!

  5. Oh Paris was my dream came true. I explored it with my jaw dropped open half of the time. It's an absolute beauty :)

My disappointing trip was Vietnam, I only had been to HCMC but I am not sure that I would go back to change my perception. I am keeping my dollars aside for other places.

  6. Great photos! Paris is definitely on my list to visit some day. As cliche as it sounds, I want a picture underneath the Eiffel tower.

Stopping by to say hello from Travel Tuesday @ A Compass Rose!
