It's hard to grasp the size of the Vatican when it resides within the world's smallest sovereign state. You feel so tiny, realizing that the buildings around you are some of the most significant in all of Christendom. Every inch of this incredible city is full of history and wonder.
Our first stop inside the walls of the Vatican City was the Vatican Museum. Centuries of history are preserved inside the museum, including some of the most important Renaissance pieces in the world.
After moving through the crowds and crowds of people and enjoying the beauty of the Sistine Chapel (no photos allowed), we made our way to the main attraction, St. Peter's Basilica. The largest church in the world, St. Peter's Basilica was constructed in the 16th and 17th centuries. However, a church has stood on these grounds since the beginning of the 4th century.
